AUTUMN LEAF, TEACH ME TO LET GO

Nature Reflections

Autumn leaf, glowing amber in the sunlight

I see your veins - once corridors for life,

now quiet, awaiting your decay

Autumn leaf, teach me your surrender

Teach me your courage

to fall and let the wind carry you

along this hard city pavement

Autumn leaf, teach me your lightness

Teach me your ephemerality and acceptance

Somewhere inside, I think I already know.

Autumn leaf, thank you for the reminder

that sometimes it is easiest to just let go

to trust the cycles

of life and death the seasons carry

Autumn leaf, thank you for teaching me

that only from letting go,

do we grow

Autumn leaf,

sometimes I see you holding on

Your stem hesitant of the fate you await below

but still you remember your sweet surrender

and now here you linger

my quiet and gentle teacher.
